These classes are the classes run at the Hunter Valley Fast Electrics and will form the basis of a proposal to be put before the Australian Model Power Boat Association later in 2000.

CELL AND MOTOR CLASSES

These classes are intended to allow you to enter the electric boats using the same equipment you would in cars and flight or using ready to run style sport models.

Cells

Counts are determined by the cells wired in series to supply power to the motor(s).

Cells wired in parallel are not counted

Any cell chemistry or size may be used provided they are rated at 1.2v

BOX STOCK may run in at least three classes box stock, superstock and n mono or hydro

SUPER STOCK hulls may run in at least 3 classes superstock, 6 cell and 8 cell

ALL Hulls may run in at least their own class and the next high cell count class - eg M in N

A hull may be run in more than one class by changing the number of batteries and/or number and/or motor to comply with class requirements.

The host club may run hull classes, not described in the rules; eg restricted modified motors or a scale hydro only class in 4 cells.

BOX STOCK
This is a class for fun with near stock ready to run style boats as sold by Kyosho Great Planes MRP etc The intention is to enable good speed with minimum outlay beyond the kit price so the modifications are limited to more power.

? to be legal a hulls must have been produced at manufacture as a joined hull/deck to be, and to have been retailed as a kit including motor, drive line and hardware

? All boats must run: Standard wiring; Standard hull; Standard speed controls; Standard size servos and receiver; Single drive line;

? Maximum 6 x 1700mah cells - non-matched, non-zapped cells retailed as made packs - no custom packs allowed

Permissible alterations:

? A 20 turn single wind 540/550 motor with up to 5.4 (or equivalent) ferrite magnets

? D4 and Chrome Modified generation motors are prohibited

? Water cooling;

? Any metal propeller;

? Wiring connections may be hard soldered;

? Waterproofing which does not affect hull performance;

SUPER STOCK

? Any hull

? A 20 turn single wind armature and can with up to 5.4 ferrite magnets.

? D4 and Chrome Modified generation motors are prohibited

? Any hardware

? Water cooling of any part;

? A maximum of six non-matched, non-zapped cells, up to 1700mah, retailed as a "made pack" may be used;

? One high performance connector set between battery and speed control;

? Mechanical speed control;

? Standard size servos and receiver;

? Direct drive only.

MONO

Monos have

? A single continuous running surface between the bow and stern

? A keel between the bow and stern

? The keel is the deepest point of the hull. Rudder, prop, strut, skid fins, trim tabs, water pickup and cavitation plates excepted

? Strakes are legal

? Steps strakes across the hull or tunnels along the hull are not legal

RIGGER

? Rides on two or more planing surfaces;

? Otherwise there are no restrictions on its design.

.SPORT CLASSES

? Include tunnel hull, offshore and hydroplane style models.

TUNNEL HULLS

Must have two continuous keels or "sponsons" mounted on a hull to form:

? The planing surfaces;

? A tunnel or airtrap along the entire hull length; and be

? Driven by a motor mounted outboard on a leg attached to the hull by a pivot with the drive line housed entirely within the outboard leg;

? Must be easily recognisable by an average person as a UIM Formula 1 style boat.

? the 8 cell boats may run any motor

? 12 cell boats a 700BB 8.4v motor

OFFSHORE HULLS

Are large monos or catamaran style hull at least 710mm long

? 700bb 8.4v motor s

? Standard size servos and receiver

? Mechanical speed controller

? 12 cells maximum;

? Must be easily recognised as model of UIM style Offshore boat.

Sport 8 HYDRO

Is intended to be a Sport model built to be easily recognisable as a model of a limited or unlimited class hydroplane under Australian or American Powerboat Association regulations.

? The scale of the boat need not be 100% true;

? A fictitious team may be created;

? Hulls must be from 400mm in length

? Can be run with 6 cells and N motor as Aussie Sport Lite;

SPORT 12 HYDRO

Is similar to SPORT 8 except:

? Hulls must be from 550mm in length

? use 12 cells

? 700bb 8.4v (rec for sprint) or 700 NEO (rec for enduro) motor only
